As an independent Substance Use Assessor we specialize in comprehensive, compassionate assessments. Our assessments are based on an investigative interview using the Rule 25 assessment tool or Comprehensive Assessment and information collected from collateral contacts for a complete bio-psychosocial assessment. We follow Minnesota best practices in conducting our evaluations to provide the best quality assessment and feedback available for your specific needs.
We serve both adults and adolescents and we do so with integrity.
Not being affiliated with a treatment center or insurance program means all of our recommendations are determined by your individual needs. This gives us a wider range of recommendations available for you or your family member.
Alcohol and other drug assessments may be needed
for a variety of reasons that include:
- For Court related to a DWI, DUI, drug-related charges, criminal charges, domestic case, custody case
Alcohol and/or drug assessments are commonly ordered by the court for persons arrested for driving while impaired—receiving a DWI/DUI. Obtaining as assessment before the court hearing shows that the individual is taking responsibility for their substance use situation. Being proactive in this way is viewed favorably by the courts. After the assessment, a recommended plan will be individualized for each specific situation. All of our assessments meet legal standards and best practices for Minnesota courts.
- Required by probation or court
Probation may require an assessment to successfully complete conditions of probation/parole. We will provide a comprehensive assessment that will meet a probation officer's needs. We then will make appropriate recommendations that work for the individual and their probation officer.
- Employer or School referral
If a situation occurred at a place of employment or school, administration may require an all-inclusive substance use assessment, or as part of background studies before employment an assessment maybe indicated. This kind of assessment is what we do best for adolescents and adults. We then make individualized recommendations and support the client in following the recommended plan.
- A personal concerns or concerns from family member or friends about alcohol or drug use
Sometimes family and friends express concerns about one's alcohol or other drug use. Sometimes individuals begin to see situations that make them wonder if a problem has developed. The best way to figure out if one's substance use has become problematic is to have a comprehensive assessment.
Recommendations
As part of our service to you, and our responsibility as Licensed Alcohol Drug Counselors (LADC) we will make recommendations for a suitable action plan to address the reason you came in for an assessment. Each recommended plan will be based on your individual circumstances. Recommendations may range from:
* a class — * a MADD panel — * appropriate treatment —
* Driving with Care Workshops * nothing
All recommendations are based only on your specific situation and needs. With a recommendation, we will become your advocate supporting you in recognizing the choices you have in addressing the current situation.
